Tough love for Indians You may hate me for saying this, but I will say it. When people in other countries cannot tell by looking at me and my wife that we are from India, I take it as a blessing. When I have to say that we are from India, I feel a tinge of embarrassment, because I see how Indians behave everywhere and the bad reputation they have for their utter lack of civic sense. India needs a massive upgrade in this regard. And this is not just about the lower classes—even the rich are often obnoxious when it comes to civic behavior, both abroad and at home. Bad behavior is so deeply ingrained in us that sometimes when I look at my own videos, I cringe. I try to eliminate these behaviors that surface unknowingly, subconsciously. It’s actually a good thing that I record myself through vlogs, because it helps me identify and get rid of these “Indianisms.” Some would say I hate my country. That’s up to interpretation. I call it tough love.
