You can’t learn from a book what you haven’t experienced in some form in your life
A book is only helpful when you can relate to what is being said. It gives words and structure to your own experiences that you couldn’t express yourself, and in that sense it offers catharsis
That’s why one person may derive immense value from the same book while another doesn’t get it at all
The difference lies in individual experience. One can relate, the other can’t. The one who can relate finds it helpful, while the other may find it worthless
