Every once in a while I see people using escalator for the first time. Little kids, aged women,.. At first they fear the thing, then make up their mind and clumsily step on it, then struggle to balance themselves. And then the triumphant smiles as they stabilize themselves and get the see-it's-easy looks from their loved ones.
It's such a delight to see humans conquer their fear in this manner. It's not a silly matter to laugh at.
