Majority of India still lives in joint families. I've grown up in a joint family, and all the families around me were also joint families. And all of them were dysfunctional to an extent There are invariably conflicts between women, and there are always some men bearing the disproportionate burden of the entire family. Everybody is suffocated, but they want to continue on because it is Indian culture, and they take pride in it The mental harm that these joint families do to the children growing up is not being talked about enough
