I used to say if you want to know someone’s true nature, give them a lot of money But not any more. A poor man who is humble can not predict that he won’t become arrogant when he gets rich In both situations, he is “faking” it And I say “faking” to mean that we always act by balancing our urges with what the situation would allow us to get away with We don’t have one true nature that is constant Anyone who knows for sure how they will act when given a lot of power is not self-aware imo
