Identity is made up of beliefs, with one belief stacked on top of another
Each belief is like a Jenga block. Changing a belief is not easy because it is like removing one of those blocks and replacing it with another
The more foundational the belief, the harder it is to change because it poses a greater risk to the collapse of identity itself. That is why people resist ideas that challenge their beliefs. They are protecting their identity
But if a person’s foundational beliefs are deeply wrong, reality sometimes catches up. If they continue resisting change while building further on a flawed foundation, there may come a point where the entire structure collapses. We call it insanity
